  Starsky & Hutch Review

Overly dedicated Detective David Starsky (Stiller) is forced to work with overly laid-back Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson (Wilson), whose only angle is his connection to street-savvy informant Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg). A lead on a new type of undetectable cocaine takes them to the door of businessman and philanthropist Reese Feldman (Vaughn)...

The main thing to say is that this is not a direct remake of the buddy cop show; it's a lot more comic oriented than the original series/film. But with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in the lead roles you can't really expect anything else.

Anyone who's seen previous films where these 2 have been teamed up (Zoolander or The Royal Tenenbaums for example) will have some idea of what to expect.

The basic storyline (without spoiling anything) is that David Starsky (Stiller) and his new partner Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson (Wilson), with the help of Hutch's informant Huggy Bear (rapper Snoop Dogg!), are on the trail of a shipment of undetectable cocaine that is due into their city within days.

With plenty of gun fights, obligatory car chases, and nods to the original series (from the red and white Torino, the spoof of the opening credits of the original series, and even having Hutch singing a David Soul song!), there are plenty of laughs along the way. Plus there's a nice touch towards the end of the movie too.

Well worth seeing if you have the chance.

Oh, and the end titles will give you a good indication of just how many Torinos were harmed in the making of this movie!
